Today show host has reacted to an outrageous viral video of an American TV anchor slurring her way through a morning broadcast.
Heather Kovar quit her job at New York station WRGB CBS-6 after footage was circulated on social media of her looking worse for wear and mixing up colleagues’ names live on air.
Stefanovic, 47, who memorably hosted Today while drunk the morning after the 2009 , made light of the situation on Tuesday’s program.

‘Now to a story going viral. This is not something you’d see in Australia ever: the TV anchor shocking viewers as she slurred her words and appeared disheveled on air,’ Stefanovic began.
After watching the footage, he cheekily added: ‘That’s not a knife…’
‘That’s not a knife’ is an Australian slang term meaning you can easily outdo something you’ve just seen, similar to the American phrase ‘hold my beer‘.
It derives from a scene in the 1986 Aussie film Crocodile Dundee where a small-time criminal tries to mug lead character Mick Dundee (Paul Hogan) using a flick knife on the streets of New York City.
Mick looks at the small weapon then takes out a huge outback-style hunting blade and says, ‘That’s not a knife, that’s a knife,’ and the would-be mugger runs off.

CBS suspended Ms Kovar pending an investigation, and on Monday she announced she had decided not to renew her contract, which expires on July 31.
She told local New York newspaper The Times Union that a combination of grief and gruelling hours were behind her on-screen meltdown.
However, a producer from the show reportedly told NBC she was often ‘intoxicated’ on the job – just never as evidently as she was on Saturday morning.
