Tottenham Hotspur eye ‘New Cristiano Ronaldo’ Bruma as Roman Pavlyuchenko is offered Sporting Lisbon chance

Reports in Portugal suggest Spurs would be keen to take an option on Bruma as part of a deal for Pavlyuchenko, but the Russian’s loan move to Portugal has to overcome significant hurdles.

Sporting are hopeful of a deal but are currently in no position to pay the 28-year-old’s wages, while Pavlyuchenko himself has been kept out of the loop and is reluctant to move to another country where he doesn’t know the language after only now getting comfortable in England.
Russia team-mate Marat Izmailov would be an ally at the Estadio Jose Alvalade stadium, unless he moves back to Lokomotiv Moscow before the summer transfer window closes.
Agent Tomas Zorn, who is negotiating the Pavlyuchenko deal, said: ‘I know there is interest from Sporting in Pavlyuchenko but there is currently no chance of the player going.
‘Pavlyuchenko has high wages and Sporting, to my knowledge, can’t afford to pay what he earns at his current club.However, negotiations should continue.’

Although Robbie Keane is expected to leave Tottenham this summer, Pavlyuchenko’s future at White Hart Lane remains in doubt because boss Harry Redknapp wants to sign a world-class striker before the Champions League kicks off.
He remains keen on Sevilla striker Luis Fabiano, despite the Brazil international’s initial reluctance to join Spurs, while Nice’s Loic Remy is an option and reports claim they are also in the running to sign Raul from Real Madrid.
Zorn claims that Pavlyuchenko is keen on both Sporting as a club and Lisbon as a city, but when asked about the move on Tuesday night, the player said: ‘It’s the first I’ve heard about it.I know nothing about this.
‘Nobody spoke to me about moving to Portugal. Therefore there is nothing to comment on, especially as the question of priorities is still the same for me: if not England, then Russia.’
